SD Base
SD Base
Overview
- Yeast minimal media for culturing Saccharomyces cerevisiae
- SD base for use with dropout (DO) supplements
- Proven track record—15 years of yeast media sales
These high-quality yeast growth media and dropout supplements can be used for growing yeast cultures, confirming auxotrophic phenotypes, and selecting yeast transformants.
Applications
- Selection of auxotrophic phenotypes in yeast
- Selection for plasmid after yeast transformation
- Yeast two-hybrid screening
- Yeast one-hybrid screening
Yeast minimal media—SD base
These high-quality yeast growth media can be used together with dropout (DO) supplementsfor confirming auxotrophic phenotypes and selecting yeast transformants. They are ideal for use with Matchmaker Gold systems and other yeast one-hybrid systems or yeast two-hybrid systems.
Minimal SD bases
Minimal synthetic defined (SD) bases include a yeast nitrogen base, ammonium sulfate, and a glucose as a carbon source. Amino acids are not added so dropout (DO) supplements must be added separately to the Minimal SD Base to make a synthetic, defined medium lacking the specified nutrients allowing for selection of transformed yeast clones. The SD bases are available with or without agar premixed in the medium. Each package of Minimal SD Base makes 10 liters of medium.
