SCDase
SCDase (Sphingolipid ceramide N-deacylase) from Pseudomonas species hydrolyzes the N-acyl linkage between fatty acids and sphingosine bases in ceramides of various sphingolipids. The enzyme also catalyzes the reverse reaction and possesses transacylation activity. The enzyme acts on various acidic and neutral glycosphingolipids and sphingomyelin; however, it exhibits low activity on ceramide.
Applications
- Hydrolysis of N-acyl linkages between fatty acids and sphingosine bases
- Sphingolipid hydrolysis
