PrimerArray series for biological pathways

Takara Bio's PrimerArray Series offers primer sets for real-time RT-PCR (qPCR) that can be used for gene expression analysis of biological pathways. Each PrimerArray Series primer set contains 96 total primers that allow for the simultaneous analysis of 88 biological pathway-related genes and 8 housekeeping genes. The performance of each primer set for real-time RT-PCR (qPCR) has been validated.

The PrimerArray Analysis Tool* (download) is capable of analyzing data obtained using PrimerArray Series products. This analysis tool is linked to the KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) database, allowing results to be visualized on a pathway map. Primer set information and a manual on how to use the tool can be downloaded by opening the product table and clicking on the Resources tab for your product of interest.

Procedural overview for gene expression analysis by real-time RT-PCR

The overall workflow for the PrimerArray Series primer sets is straightforward:

  1. RNA extraction (30 min): NucleoSpin RNA (Cat. # 740955.50, not available in all geographic locations) is recommended.
  2. Reverse transcription (20 min): PrimeScript RT Master Mix (Perfect Real Time) (Cat. # RR036A) is recommended.
  3. Dispense real-time PCR reaction solution (10 min): Prepare a master mix containing the cDNA sample and TB Green Premix Ex Taq II (Tli RNase H Plus) (Cat.# RR820A); dispense into a 96-well plate.
  4. Add PrimerArray primers (5 min): Use 4 µl of PrimerArray Series primers per reaction
  5. Real-time PCR (1–2 hours): PrimerArray Series primers are compatible with all commonly used real-time PCR systems
  6. Data analysis (30 minutes): Use the PrimerArray Analysis Tool
