Anhydrotetracycline is an antibiotic derivative of tetracycline. It is effective at lower concentrations than either tetracycline or doxycycline and is also less toxic to E. coli. It is thus a suitable antibiotic for use with the PROTet Vectors or other vectors or systems designed upon elements of the (Tn10) tet operon.
Overview
No antibacterial activity, so it can be used in bacterial systems to induce expression from tetracycline-controlled promoters.
